Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance 2

Our battle is in the heavenly places against Satan and his army

Eph 6:11-12 – “…For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

When we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, our sins are forgiven, we are washed by the blood of the Lamb, we are born again having a new human spirit and the Holy Spirit now dwells in our spirit as seal and guarantee (Eph 1:13-14).

Well, now starts the process called “sanctification”; we are invited to mortify our old man that is ruled by the lusts of our flesh, and build the new man (or inner man) through the word of God and the Holy Spirit to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Soon you perceive that this is not easy, a battle takes place and you are called to defeat the enemy and take possession of the Promised Land.

Who is the enemy?

The enemy is Satan and his army (you also have your own flesh and the system of this world fighting against God’s plan in your life).

What is the Promised Land?

The Promised Land can be: your soul, your body, your home, your family, your church, your neighborhood, your friends, the company you work for, your city, your state, your country, the whole world.

Our walking as Christians is a conquering process with battles everyday. God has given us authority, power, anointing, strength, His word, His name, grace, wisdom, but we are the soldiers. And certainly we will face fight and resistance. The enemy was defeated at the cross but he will resist us in many ways.

Spiritual warfare and deliverance study intends to give us tools and concepts to understand our calling and our mission on earth, and how to overcome the enemy.

Inspirational thoughts

1 John 3:8 – “He who sins is of the Devil, for the Devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the Devil.”

Mark 16:17-18 – “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

Luke 10:17-20 – “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”

1 Peter 5:8 – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the Devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

James 4:7 – “Therefore submit to God. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you.”

1 Cor 15:25 – “For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.”

Example: exposing somebody to the freedom

Mat 12:22 – “Then one was brought to Him who was demon-possessed, blind and mute; and He healed him, so that the blind and mute man both spoke and saw.”

Mat 12:28-29 – “But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. Or how can one enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.”

Mat 12:43-45 – “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. Then he says, “I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

Mat 18:18-20 – “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Do Christians ever need deliverance from demons?

Eph 4:27 – “nor give place to the devil.”

Mat 26:41 – “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

1 Cor 10:20-22 – “Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?”

2 Cor 12:7 – “And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.”

1 Tim 1:18-20 – “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck, of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.”

Some of the ways that demons gain access to human personality

A family background in the occult or false religions

Exo 20:4-5 – “You shall not make for yourself a carved image–any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me”

Contact to divination, fortune telling and the predictions of a psychic

Deut 18:10-14 – “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God. For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the LORD your God has not appointed such for you.”

Martial arts, yoga, secular rock music, drugs, hypnosis, acupuncture, tattoos, pierce, etc

2 Cor 6:14-18 – “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be my people. “Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.”

Controlling relationship between two people as a form of witchcraft

1 Sam 15:22-23 – “”Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he also has rejected you from being king.”

Broken heart and bitterness; sexual abuse, violence, anger, abort, homicide, rejection, abandonment, etc (look carefully the relationship with parents)

Heb 12:15 – “looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled”

Idle words

They are words we utter thoughtlessly: “I am sick and tired. “I nearly died laughing,” You’ll die when you here this one,” “I wish you were dead,” “I’d better of dead,” ”I am so stupid.”

Prov 18:20-21 – “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Rom 3:13-14 – “Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have practiced deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips”; whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.”

Sexual immorality

1 Cor 6:12-19 – “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh. But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”

Inspirational thought

Eph 1:15-23 – “Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”
